Phenobarbitone [PBAR]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma (not serum gel tubes).Sample 12 hours post tablet, 2-3 weeks after commencing treatment or adjusting dosage, then every 6 - 12 months.
Phenobarbitone & potassium bromide [PBAR KBR]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma (not serum gel tubes).Sample 12 hours post tablet, 2-3 weeks after commencing treatment or adjusting dosage, then every 6 - 12 months.
Potassium Bromide [KBR]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma (not serum gel tubes).Sample 125 days after commencing treatment or adjusting dosage, then every 6-12 months.
Phenytoin [PHEN]
Serum (clotted blood)
Digoxin [DIG]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma (not serum gel tubes).Sample 8 hours post tablet, 5 days after commencing treatment or adjusting dosage, or if signs suspicious of toxicity becomes apparent.
Thyroxine Therapy - T4 [T4]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma.Sample 4-6 hours post tablet.
Carbimazole / Methimazole Therapy - T4 [T4]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma. Sample 1 - 3 weeks after commencing treatment, 2 weeks after each dose adjustment, then every 3 months.
Trilostane Therapy - ACTH Stimulation Test [CORT* x2]
Serum (clotted blood) or heparin plasma x2. Take first sample 4 - 6 hours post tablet. Inject 0.25 mg synthetic ACTH (Synacthen) I/v or I/m, then resample 1 hour later. Label samples clearly pre and post ACTH. Test 10 days, 4 weeks, 12 weeks and every 3 months after initial treatment or following disease.
